St Paddy's Irish Hoolie 2009 - The Last Supper!

And so we say tooralee and toodaloo to Irish Hoolies at i5 cafe - the odious grease trap (or lack of) has swallowed our evening functions down the drain, but at least we went out in style! Thanks to everyone who has supped and supported our foodie nights in the past - we are still here without the tucker - fantastic art, great espresso, and sweets lollies and other non-grease trap requiring deliciousnesses.

Anyhow, congrats to Dave who took out the Leaping Leprecahun Limerick Trophy with this effort
There was a smooth guy who could fly
Who pushed trolleys around in the sky
His time home in Weka
Usually spent satisfying his pecker
But right now he's serving us fantastic kai!

And there were more. so many more great limericks, that Maree has decided a wee book would be in order - with a collection from the last 3 years and some great artwork alongside - so watch out for that...

St Paddy's Irish Hoolie 2007

St Patrick's day was celebrated in fine style with more than 40 people enjoying an evening of good old Irish craic Mangaweka style. The competition was fierce for the coveted Leaping Leprechaun trophy, pictured here with runner up Irene Loder on left and winner Merril Ridley on right. Merril's winning limerick probably best sums up the evening:

"At i5 cafe in the weka,
The crowd was in very fine fetter,
The fiddling as fine,
The singing divine,
But the do in the backroom was better."

There was no shortage of guinness, colcannon or Irish karaoke and the bookings are rolling in for next year!
